MC/EC Tool Calibration Procedures - TMAC

Equipment:

The TMAC is capable of modifying the torque readout to match that of the audit values. This is achieved by adjusting the joint compensation number entered in the controller. The following equipment should be used when calibrating a tool.

  • UFT Joint Simulator
  • Torque auditing equipment similar to customers torque audit method (dynamic or residual)
  • Stable 85PSI air supply

Steps:

By following the steps below, a calibration number for the specific tool will be determined.

1. Perform a joint study to determine joint rate of tool application.

2. Set up UFT tester fastener and joint rate to match that of application.

3. Set up and verify calibration of torque auditing equipment (inline transducer, hand torque wrench, etc.).

4. Perform a minimum of ten rundowns, and record the tool controller display values and the torque measuring equipment display value.

5. Add all the values of the tool controller display and divide by the number of operations.

6. Add all the values of the torque auditing equipment display and divide by the number of operations.

7. Using the following formula, calculate the new tool calibration number.

New Joint Compensation # =

Average audit value (step 6.)

Average display value (step 5.)

8. Enter programming mode and input this value into the TMAC. Run a new test. The audit values should now match the display value (plus or minus 5%).
